Mayflower Spa is the perfect place to jump-start a fitness program or take yourself to a new level. One of the great joys of my work here at Mayflower in encouraging people to enjoy fitness and enjoy the outdoors. Our own 58-acre estate combined with the vast acreage of the nearby Steeprock reserve is like a huge playground for the fitness minded. From kayak races to a heart-quickening hike to the pinnacle overlooking Lake Waramaug, the possibilities are endless.

At Mayflower, classes are so small and personalized that week-to-week I am able to respond to the fitness needs, desires and goals of the guests. Opening up new interests and ways of exercising keeps things fresh for everyone and one of my favorite aspects of our destination program is watching people become more open and adventurous as the week progresses. A guest who has to be coaxed on the trails for a simple hike is asking about triathlon training by the end of the week!

On the Triathlon subject, I am pleased as an adventure-biker and tri-athlete myself, to be working with excellent and distinguished trainers to develop a week of Serious Fitness for Women.

This will be a week, long fitness challenge for all levels from someone curious about what it takes to run a mile or bike 20 miles to the woman preparing for a meet.

Amy White is an adventure racer and fitness instructor certified in a myriad of disciplines from Personal Training to Bike Fitting, from Yogilates to Solo Wilderness First Aid. She has run the Active Body programming at Mayflower for 13 years and is now our fitness Director.
